Cell phones

I’m so close on going out and starting to look at new Boost Mobile cellular phones due to the one we have doesn’t hold a charge so much anymore.  The only time we can really use it, is if it’s plugged in.   The funny thing is when I go to shop for one I know it will still be just a basic phone as I really don’t need all those bells and whistles.  Maybe  it’s because I feel like the more bells and whistles there are, the more that could go wrong with them?   Who knows, maybe it’s just me?

How often do you go shopping for cell phones?  Do you like to stay with a certain brand?  Do you also change your server or do you stay with the same server?  Wow, I didn’t know there were so many things to think of!

Memory Lane

I don’t know about you, but I’ve had so much fun since joining Facebook.  There has been many times where I would wonder about what my old classmates were up to.   What are they now doing with their lives?  Did they ever get married?  Do they have children?  Did they move out of state… etc.

Thanks to Facebook I’ve been able to find out the answer to some of my old classmates, but what’s really fun is when they start posting pictures from back in the day.  I’m amazed those to find out a majority of them haven’t changed at all.  I swear they look the same, just maybe a tad older.  Then you have some of the guys who have lost a little of their hair or girls who have gained a few pounds like I did.  Then you have those who you can’t believe they are the same person.  Back in high school they were the ones who had acne treatments done and now they look like they could be a model on any magazine!  While I wish I could look as half as good as they do, I’m so happy for them and maybe, just maybe I’ll be able to look that way as well.

Cleansing kits

Archived in the category: Health

Usually when people think of getting healthy the first thing that comes to their mind is eating healthy & exercising.   While I agree eating healthy & dieting are great steps to getting healthy,  there are also some other things we should be doing.  I’ll admit I’ve never done them, but I was told that I should.

I was told one thing you also want to do is use a colon cleansing kit like Colonix because when your colon is full, what it is doing is releasing toxins into your body and what you want to do is get those toxins out of it.

So next time you start thinking of getting healthy, don’t forget to use a cleansing kit so your body can start working more efficiently.

My poor sister..

Archived in the category: Family

A year ago my sister was walking down the stairs at her house and ended up tripping and landed squarely on the outside of her ankle.  She was in so much pain and had an x-ray taken and all they saw was an  old fracture so they thought it was just a bad sprain.

Since then there are times where her foot didn’t hurt at all, but then out of the blue she would be in so much pain.  She ended up seeing a chiropractor and that didn’t work so was sent on to a podiatrist and when he looked at her new x-rays he saw was the issue.  She had chipped her bone and every time that chip floated around her foot would throb.

So last Monday she ended up having surgery done to remove the chip.  Apparently it was the size of the doctors thumb nail!  YIKES!   Thankfully the surgery went good, the only downer for her is that she was bed ridden this past week and if you knew her she is not one to just sit around.

Now the tricky part for her will be to take a shower/bath without getting her foot wet.  I know she has been looking online for bathroom safety products in hopes of finding something that would help her sit in the shower/tub and not get her foot wet.

All I know is she is counting her days down to when she can get that cast off and can walk normal again!

Piano’s

Both Paul and I grew up taking Piano lessons so it’s only normal for us to want our kids to take piano as well.  Both sets of Grandparents still have the piano’s we grew up on, so whenever we go over to the one set of Grandparents Katie will always ask Paul or I to “play piano“.   Me, I don’t remember songs off the top of my head so I tend to let Paul do the honors.  (Plus I still hate playing in front of people and he could care less)

So Paul and I were talking about it and it looks as if next year once we get our nest egg saved up I can start looking for a piano for the kids!  Of course he wants one like his parents has (they have a Yamaha Clavinova) so wish me luck on finding a good deal on one of those!

Do you have a piano?  If so, what kind do you have?  Do you play it a lot?

Camping!

Paul and I have both camped before in the past, but never with each other and now that the kids are older and we are debt free we feel like now is when we can start playing a little and by playing we are thinking camping and taking our boat so we can also fish & tube!

This past Wednesday we ended up going up to Ludington State Park just for the day. It was 90 degrees and just a perfect day to be on the water. We got up there a little later than we had planned, but still had a ton of fun. First we did about 15 minutes of fishing until the kids got so bored and hot as all they wanted to do was swim & tube. So off to find our private beach (which we did) and we ended up beaching the boat so we could play in the water! The water felt so good, chilly but you got used to it really fast. After playing there for awhile and running up and down the sand dune we decided it was time to take the kids out on the tube we had just bought (thanks to Craigslist) on the way up. We ended up getting a two person tube where the kids can sit down on their rumps so you don’t have to worry as much about them falling off. (I’ll post pictures soon) They had so much fun! I ended up putting on a life jacket and went with them too and had a blast!

Then we went back to our private beach and once again played in the water, went up and down the sand dune and had a picnic.   As we headed back to the launch Kevin was wondering if we could go camping.  We told him we couldn’t this time, but we would someday soon!

So now I have to think of what all to pack for when we do.  When Kevin went fishing a few weeks ago with his friend I would of swore they were packing everything since he took one of our floor lamps, their ipods, and if I remember  right a fan!  I started teasing him when he left if he had packed the kitchen sink too.  Of course now that it’s time for me to think about packing for when we go I’m wondering what do I want to take?  Paul said the floor lamp was nice as then you could see things when it got dark out and you didn’t have to worry about the flashlights as much.  Plus I bet when it’s hot a fan would come in handy as I don’t do to well with heat.

What’s one thing that you take camping that if other people heard about it would laugh at you?

I was going to keep this until Sunday, but since it’s a rainy day here today I thought I would share it a little early. The beginning is the coolest thing and I highly recommend at least watching that part!

Do you get what you pay for?

Archived in the category: Economy

When it comes to finding the best deal possible, I’m all about that.   The catcher is, not all the time is buying the cheapest thing always the best.   A majority of the time you will catch me buying the store brand name product, but there are sometimes when there is a product I like (for example the Clorox Green Works dish soap) that’s what I’ll be sticking with even though I know there are other products much cheaper.

It’s one thing when products are cheap enough and you can compare and find out which item is best before long, but what about products like insurance?   How do you honestly know which insurance would be the best for your dollar?  Sometimes it’s really hard to compare apples to apples so how do you know which is best?  Do you just go with the cheap insurance and hope for the best?   I know we (ok I) was nervous having our insurance company as we didn’t know anyone else who did and Paul likes to shop on price alone.  I ended up being so thankful that when we did have to make a claim they ended up being just as good as the more expensive companies!  So we ended up lucking out, but who knows the next time he decides to change companies.

10 Year Anniversary

Archived in the category: Vacation

I still have a couple years before our 10 year anniversary, but me who likes to dream is already dreaming where would we go if we could go away just the two of us? Parts of me would really LOVE to go to Hawaii as that’s some place I have never gone before, but Paul just doesn’t seem to interested as he had been there when he was younger.  (He went with his sister and parents and all I hear was how both him and his sister were crabs the whole time)

It seems like quite often people head to Las Vegas, but since Paul and I are not big gamblers I’m not thinking that would be the place for us even though I bet if you searched online for Las Vegas hotels you could find some really great deals and if you know Paul and I we are all about finding the deals.

Then I start thinking, is it selfish for us to go on a little vacation for just the two of us? Instead of it being just for us, should we take the kids with us? After all, I’m sure if you ask parents whose kids are in college and out of the house they would say they wish they would of done more things with their kids. Of course I know it’s also important to have alone time too.

Thankfully I have a couple years to decide, start saving and hopefully changing Paul’s mind about Hawaii. ~grin~

If you were going to go away with just you and your spouse, where would you go?
