Last night we ended up going to one of the nearby cities to watch their fireworks since that would be the only night Paul would be able to watch them with us. Of course we didn’t get home until WAY past the kids bedtime and it showed this morning as they both slept in until 9:30am and they both ended up taking a nap today as well. (Of course Kevin ended up napping as he isn’t feeling the best.. strep throat)
Even though Kevin is sick I’m still debating on taking the kids (by myself since Paul is working) to watch fireworks tonight and tomorrow night. My goal would be to find someplace where we can watch them from a distance so we wouldn’t be by anyone. But I can’t help but think if we did that I have a feeling by Tuesday I will have some dark circle under eyes, of course I might have that anyways if Kevin keeps crying like he is. I just pray that his antibiotic will start kicking this strep throat soon because I hate seeing him in so much pain.
Father’s Day is this weekend! Have you figured out what you are getting your Dad or spouse this year? It feels good to already have Paul’s present bought (his weber grill) and knowing what to get both Dad’s. For Paul’s Dad we will be giving him money to go towards getting his Mercury finished. (He’s been restoring it for the last 7 years) For my Dad my sister & I are going in together on a gift. I would post what we are getting him, but I know he reads my blogs from time to time and I really don’t want to give the surprise away.
For those that have no clue what to get your Dad and are thinking of doing the bow ties route, my advice is don’t get one of those gaudy ones, to me they usually take away from the outfit as that’s all you look at. Instead go with a classy solid color! It doesn’t matter what color, when it’s a solid they all look good!
By reading facebook, you can tell it’s the day after Easter. No, it’s not because a majority of the posts yesterday was either people wishing everyone a Happy Easter, reminders on how Jesus rose from the dead and some wonderful bible versus, but you can tell by what people are writing today. “Ugh I’m so tired of seeing Jelly Beans” and “after all the food yesterday, I have to find either a diet or some diet pills for today”.
Thankfully I didn’t over do it yesterday, but I do have to admit I did have enough candy yesterday to last me for awhile. (Until I see that other chocolate bunny looking at me)
Do you understand much about Mardi Gras? All I know about it is they celebrate around Fat Tuesday (which I’m not sure what that is, but it makes me think people would be looking for something like a phentermine diet pill because they will be eating to much) by having a parade where people dress up with masks and throw beads.
We currently are in Orange Beach, Alabama and they will be having a Mardi Gras parade today and my guess is we will be grabbing another bag full of beads today like we did last Saturday. Even though I really don’t understand it all, I do have fun with it!
By the sounds of things more and more people are having a hard time making ends meet due to prices going up and people loosing their jobs. I feel fortunate that for us the only thing that’s changed is prices going up, but who knows what will happen the next time Paul has to vote on his new contract. Every time they change their contract it keeps getting worse and worse.
The thing I don’t understand though is people who are having a hard time finding ends meet, but yet they still will go out to eat, out to the movies, still buying stuff they don’t NEED, but WANT. That’s when I can’t feel sorry for them.
Some of you might be thinking, but how are we to save? Especially when things like Valentines day is around the corner. I HAVE to do something for my significant other.
To tell you the truth… what Paul and I usually end up doing for Valentines day is we find a babysitter for the kids (which is usually my parents.. so therefor free) and going out for a dinner. We don’t go to the nicest place around, just as long as we are together. But a cheaper way could be for once again have my parents watch the kids, but we could make a nice dinner at home together and then rent some movies from the library (which is FREE) and just spend a nice romantic night at home. Now if we lived somewhere warmer and close to the beach another thing would be to take a drive to the beach and take a nice romantic moon lit walk while listening to the waves crash.
There are so many “cheap” things you can do for Valentines day, you don’t need to go to the expensive jewelery store to show your love or keep looking online for the daily deal hoping to score there. At least for me.. just spending quality time together means the most.
What do you do for Valentines day? Do you usually go all out? Or are you like us and like to have the more laid back Valentines night?
