Tubing at Cannonsburg
A Fun Mother-Daughter Adventure
This past weekend, my daughter and I ventured out for a special mommy-daughter date to try tubing at Cannonsburg Ski Area! It was a first for both of us, and after seeing the tubing hill during our snowboarding trip the week before, my daughter couldn’t wait to give it a go. Spoiler alert: It was a blast!

Personal Experience
Riding the Magic Carpet to the Top of the Tubing Hill!
I booked our tickets online a couple of nights in advance, which was super simple. I also filled out the waiver at the same time. It was super quick and simple and saved us time when we checked in to get our tickets! On the day of, we arrived about 20 minutes early, giving us time to use the bathroom in the main lodge and gear up.
As always, I preheated my daughter’s gloves with hand warmers before we stepped outside. I also packed a snack in my jacket pocket for a quick energy boost. Pro tip: Don’t skip the layers! Hats are a must, and I highly recommend a neck gaiter or balaclava. I wish I had brought our snowboarding goggles too because my eyes felt dry afterward.
We picked up our tickets at the ticket window outside, grabbed a tube from the tubing area, and headed straight for the magic carpet. If you’re not familiar, the magic carpet is essentially a conveyor belt that takes you to the top of the hill—so much easier than hiking up!
When you reach the top, you can choose from several lanes to ride down. We quickly discovered that some lanes are faster than others—my daughter loved the speedy ones, while I preferred the more moderate ones. Let’s just say she was braver than me!
We had booked the first slot of the day, so the hill was fairly empty when we arrived, but it did get busier as the morning went on. Even then, the lines moved quickly, and we never had to wait long to hop on the magic carpet or choose a lane.
We spent about 75 minutes tubing before heading into the lodge for some well-earned french fries and a little people-watching. My daughter loved watching skiers and snowboarders attempt jumps in the terrain park. It was such a fun, active way to spend time together!
